Description
Wine is emotion. And every release of “The Trouble With Dreams” is emotional.
11 years after what should have been the inaugural vintage of The Trouble With Dreams from the vineyard that Dermot planted to initially make wine for the monastic order of Catholic priests at Storrington Priory, the 2019 vintage marks a new and significant development we could not be happier about. Whilst the hopes of the 2008 vintage were dashed when virtually all the grapes were devoured overnight by birds (“that’s the trouble with dreams”, Prior Fr Paul McMahon had demurred…) exactly 10 miles west of Storrington a larger vineyard of older vines on extremely chalky ground were preparing for just their second crop in an exceptional terroir… Coldharbour Vineyard. We have sourced brilliant fruit from Coldharbour since 2015 for our Cuvee Boz Blanc de Blancs, in 2018 for our Rose Ex Machina, and this 2019 release of The Trouble With Dreams is the first time Coldharbour fruit is featured here, making 30% of the blend. Since 2019, Coldharbour fruit features in all our vintages, and we have been managing the site directly since 2023.
The Trouble With Dreams is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay withfruit sourced from both Storrington Priory Vineyard and Mount Harry Vineyard and partly matured in oak barriques.
