Podere Canalino is situated in the famous Italian region of Montalcino, Tuscany. Within the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG classification the wines must be 100% Sangiovese, yields are kept relatively low and only being able to be released for consumption after 5 years ageing with two of those years being spent in oak. This leads to wines of great complexity of flavour and depth of characteristics. The area came to prominence in the 1970’s after US interest and investment, which saw the area under vine expanding exponentially to where we are today. This Sangiovese is grown in the same area as Brunello, made from young vines and is able to be sold after a year. It is made in a way to be expressive of the primary fruit characteristics, and this particular wine has flavours and aromas of red cherry and plum, complimented by a bitter, herbal finish.
